AF Zoom-NIKKOR 80-200mm f/2.8D ED
High-performance, high-speed telephoto zoom is a superb choice for sports and portraits, even in challenging lighting conditions. Standing out as a favorite in the Nikon family of glass, the 80-200mm boosts crisp sharpness and contrast while maintaining quick focusing.
- 3 Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements for high resolution and high contrast even at maximum apertures.
- Maintains fast f/2.8 aperture throughout zoom range.
- Super sweet lense. Hands down.

This is a really great lens i just upgraded from a sony f717 that i had for over 5 years and was looking at either canon digital cameras or nikons i got a canon and tried this lens out at the shop i do more macro shots then anything so didnt need it but we took it out side to shoot some pics and it was amazing.
The AF Zoom-NIKKOR 80-200mm lens was an incredibly good surprise for me. Keep in mind that these are telephoto zoom lens, mainly to be used for nature, sports, real-life photography. They’re built to catch movement, and catch it fast. If you find yourself using maximum apertures, don’t fear for the resolution and contrast – this lens will keep them both very high. The lens maintains the beautiful, fast aperture through the whole zoom range.
Nikon knew what they were doing with this version, as it catches great color and perfect saturation for every photograph you take. But what impressed me most when using this lens, was the incredibly good sharpness that you get with each picture. As said in the title, this is the sharpest lens I have ever used. And if you like to feel your camera heavy in your hands, then even better: this lens is one of the heaviest out there.
Now to the negatives: I’ll say that being heavy is also a negative thing, as some people might shy away from a very heavy camera. I’ve also noticed that the lens is a bit slow when focusing in dim light, but it’s not really something that will bother you. It’s more of a perfectionist’s observation, if you will, most people wouldn’t even notice.
All in all, I’d say that this lens is perfect for a semi-pro, someone such as me, who’s looking to take incredibly sharp, rich photographs with the least amount of money possible. And the lens isn’t very expensive, not at all, at almost half a price of a professional lens. I’m recommending this to everyone who’s looking for a great lens.
